Sunny, warm smiles and children’s laughter shone through a cloudy Friday morning last week as AMG and the Greater Colorado Council of the Boy Scouts of America welcomed more than 100 students with special needs to a day of fun at Cherry Creek State Park.
The annual Fishing Derby is sponsored by AMG as a way to assist our community and provide children with special physical, mental, behavioral, or socioeconomic needs an opportunity to enjoy activities such as fishing; face painting; craft making; meeting a 150-pound turtle, lizards and some very, very large snakes from a reptile show; petting therapy dogs; launching water rockets; and creating a menagerie of balloon figures and objects.
The aroma of fish being fried beckoned everyone to lunch—if they had not already filled up on popcorn and cotton candy.
It’s a special day that AMG employees look forward to each year, and based on the smiles on the children’s faces, they had a great time as well.
