Returns can start to be filed on Jan. 29, and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has updated its website to make filing taxes as easy as possible. Using this link, you can:
- Create an online account allowing you to access your tax records, including viewing taxes owed and payments made.
- Check your withholding to make sure it is sufficient. The IRS provides a tax withholding estimator.
- Get your refund as soon as possible by electronically filing a tax return and having the refund directly deposited into your bank account.
- Organize your tax records and get an Identity Protection PIN.
