Desert sunset as soldiers exit military vehicles

Nobody wants forever wars, but does isolationism help or hinder American security? Learn about why the U.S. has strong commitments in the Middle East—and the options going forward—in a WorldDenver presentation sponsored by AMG and featuring Dr. Jon B. Alterman of the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time.

“We’re sponsoring this event because AMG strongly believes that successfully managing wealth means staying curious, exploring for untapped opportunities, and maintaining a global perspective,” said Earl Wright, Chairman of AMG National Trust. “WorldDenver provides excellent opportunities to do all three.”

Dr. Alterman holds the Zbigniew Brzezinski Chair in Global Security and Geostrategy at the CSIS and heads its Middle East Program. Previously he advised the U.S. Navy on Mideastern affairs. He teaches at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced Studies and the George Washington University and is the author or coauthor of four books.

In a recent article for Defense One, Dr. Alterman acknowledged that our involvement in the Middle East is puzzling to many Americans but that a sudden withdrawal would create new problems, such as giving Russia and China an opening to establish a deeper presence in the region, which U.S. allies would view as a threat.
